Things you should do when you get a great link to your blog’s front page

Before I start this post I would like to welcome those of you coming from Problogger and I hope you find something you like that will make you come back.

This is the second time in as many weeks that I have talked about backlinks and what the right one can do for your traffic. Last week, I got a few very high profile links on my BlackBerry blog that over the course of a 3 day period increased my readership 20 fold.

I expect today to be my biggest traffic day here on Bloggerpreneur because of a link that I received from the very popular Problogger.net. (Congratulations to Darren on his 1 Millionth visitor) I am sure that I will receive hundreds of new visitors today, however the goal, is to turn as many of them into return visitors as I can. I love the amount of visitors coming in today but the real prize is the number of visitors that come back as repeat visitors tomorrow.

So, when you get that quality link and visitors start trickling in, what can you do to get them to come back a second, and third, a forth… time?

• Welcome your visitors and let them know you appreciate their stopping by.
• Acknowledge where they came from. When you give the referrer some love, they just may send you more traffic.
• Most importantly, make sure you give your potential visitors a reason to come back. Quality content is always key and preparing a post specifically for them is not too bad either.
