How I incresed my referral traffic by over 3000%

Over the passed month or so I have been making some tweaks here and there on the templates of many of the blogs that I run and I have noticed a thirty-fold increase in referral traffic from social networking sites such as del.icio.us and furl, and spurl, etc. That is a 3000% increase in traffic boys and girls. It was incredibly easy to make these tweaks and I started noticing increased referral traffic within hours. I cannot believe that I never did this before.

If you have a blog like WordPress or Movable Type I strongly recommend that you take a look at some of the various social network bookmarking plugins that are available. There are a ton of them out there and they take only a few minutes to install an configure. This may have been the most productive thing that I have done with my blogs thus far this year. Maybe at the end of the month I will have to chart how traffic and earnings grew as a result of a fairly minor template change as compared to overall growth.

I am sure that by now you are asking what in the world could I have done that increased referal traffic on these sites by 3000%. Believe it or not, I just started adding links to the various services to my templates. This is definately the case of “If you create a link, they will click it.” I only wish that I could get the same type of result when placing ads on my site.

To be honest, it wasn’t like I was receiving a ton of traffic before I added del.icio.us, among other things to my blogs, however, moving from 15 to 20 referals per week to 450 to 600 referals per week is substantial however you look at it. Click thru rates for social network traffic isn’t too bad either from some of the sites so not only do you see increased traffic, but increased earnings as well.
