Have a Take and Don’t Suck!

I have been actively participating in various forums lately trying to find tips and tricks that will help me take my blogging to the next level. A few things that I have learned are I know more than I thought I knew and and that a lot of people don’t realize that the most important thing in blogging is good, compelling content.

To steal a token phrase from Jim Rome, “Have a Take and Don’t Suck!” This is what Jim tells callers before they call into his sports radio show. If you don’t have something interesting to say and / or cannot articulate it without stumbling all over yourself, don’t call in.

I think that this applies to blogging almost perfectly. You wouldn’t believe the number of threads where wanna be blog stars talk about all the SEO tactics, directory submissions, link exchanges, keyword targeting, and everything else in the world they have done to increase their traffic, yet their content is unoriginal, uninspiring, and in many cases just flat out sucks.

I am not saying that these things don’t help, however, no matter how pretty you dress up a pile of dog poo, it still stinks and attracts flies. If you want more traffic, to make more money, to get more people linking to you… Have a Take and Don’t Suck!
